Actually it is a 'delta winged' aircraft...

I didnt say Delta Aircraft... I said Delta Winged aircraft... I didnt say single delta specificially, or double delta, specificially, or compound delta specificially... I said delta winged. Even the MiG-21 is Delta Winged, as is the Draken, Mirage, Delta series Fighters in the US, those aircraft listed above in the pole, the Concorde, and even the Eurofighter, the F-16XL, and the J-10 are... Twisted Evil

Actually the B.2 was one of the V bombers from the 1950s and 60s, wasnt it? Served until after the Falklands War in 1982?

The B.1 was in 1955 and the bigger winged B.2 came along in 1958.

Some interesting Vulcan quotes:
Quote:
At its operational height the Vulcan can outfly and outmanoeuvre any fighter in squadron service today."
- Air Ministry Press Release (1958).
That would be something like 65,000ft altitude.

Before "black boxes"
Quote:
For instance, before the advent of appropriate recording systems, cockpit instruments were filmed with cine cameras and the films were then read by a team of film-readers and transcribed to tabular form. These tables were then plotted on graph paper by any handy apprentices! During a series of tests of emergency braking systems which involved large rubber brake pads carried between the main bogie wheels and extended to contact the runway direct, the company photographer, Paul Culerne, was actually strapped to the front undercarriage leg to photograph the operation of the pads (no videos in those days!). This was while the aircraft was moving at landing speed - not when stationary!

Quote:
In common with most British aircraft, a number of unusual proposals were made during the Vulcan's life, none of which came to anything. These include an airliner version (the Avro Atlantic), a fighter-support Vulcan which would have carried three Gnats semi-recessed in the fuselage and wings and even a vertical take-off Vulcan (complete with no less than ten lift engines in the bomb bay).

Did I ever show you the pics of my Vulcan restoration program T-shirt? Very Happy

No you never did...

The Vulcan is indeed an awesome aircraft...

It was a huge loss when they let the last flying Vulcan be grounded...

It will likely never be seen in the air again... Sad

CAG said I could close this poll, since it seems to have stabilized with no new posts. He said it was not a trick poll, as is usually the case and that the obvious choice, the Vulcan Bomber, was the correct answer all along! I will post a new poll in a few minutes for anyone that cares to vote! Smile

It is time for some victory rolls. I finally guessed a CAG poll question right. They are hard.
