I cant get the profile to engage in FA. I imported the profile from my old install in ME. When examining the profile the buttons are all still mapped to the proper keys but they dont do anything in the game. The throttle works fine as does the joystick itself. Checking the stick out in the Windows control panel shows all the buttons are working properly, the profile just isnt getting picked up when the game starts.

Kap,

perhaps I would know your answer yet, but why don't you try to uninstall that damn' SP2? I believe there's the trouble...

CAG, now I see and I'm afraid you're really right, unfortunately.

That's simply terrific, and I'll try to avoid it when I'll manage to buy my new machine at last - in that case, I would prefer to uninstall all that damn' stuff and start again from scratch...

Removing SP2 would create a world of problems and would (most likely because this is Microsoft) make the OS unusable since it came with it. I always say, "I can't beat Microsoft. I try to work with or around them. It's like a 4,000 lb. elephant and I'm a termite."

SP2 uninstall isnt an option on the "add remove" page.
I posted over on the SimHQ page, I'll probly have to try Hazardscripts. It's a shame such a great stick has had software probs since day1.

Have you checked for new drivers for the stick to use in XP SP2? Have you gone to the manufacturers site and requested any tech support help or looked for any posted FAQs?

Does the stick require active content to run locally on the system? I know that SP2 kills all local active content....

lol it's bad enough that Saitec has it's own help forum over there at SimHq LOL( that's where I posted the question )and the Dauzheimer(spell) scripts are a standard now for a lot of people running the X36/X45.

Not being a smart a$$ but when you got back into the game after setting you config on your X45 for your Joystick did you hit ESC to set it to Joystick you have installed on the pull down list. I had a friend that throught his didn't work, but to come to find out itwas defaughted back to key board when he changed his config for the stick. I don't know if this is your problem, but who knows but you. Good luck.

I only know of 3 options for X-45 software SGE, SST and the "Dauz drivers".
SGE worked fine for me on ME but fudged things up with the new rig and XP Pro. I switched to the SST software ( a different profiling software from Saitec for the X-45, X-36 ) and it is working just fine, have all the same button functions as I had with the SGE software.

The "Dauze drivers" is a software set-up that runs off of a text based file. From what I have seen it's rather like how we edit the PTs in FA.

If you arnt running the SST software GET IT!

The SGE was rather wacky as far as getting the loading options set up to run. Actually programming the buttons was easy but getting the profiler to run when you launched the game was a mess and I only got it to work right by trial and error.
