I just posted there, reading that older string triggered a memory of mine with my older XP notebook, and a fresh XP install was the only solution for USB based sticks not working on FA...

rgt. Thanks. Seems I may be keyboard bound until I get a new computer. Crying or Very sad I do have a copy Win NT, does any one know if that is compatible with FA? Probably should be.

I have no idea, never tested NT, but I know there are plenety of issues in Win2K, whic i s based on NT...

But before you go backwards, try downloading the latest version of DirectX... Also perhaps going to XP SP2 will solve your issues?

BTW my new Saitek stick doesnt work today, its not recognized at boot again and the profile is lost... POS!!

I had a logitech wingman usb stick that worked just fine with XP and FA, I think I just went through the normal installation process and then in FA just chose joystick or else microsoft sidewinder to get the buttons to work.

Are you using the SST software? If so, you have to right click the icon in the tray and select the profile each time Windows starts. I have had as many as 3 different profiles at once and as long as I selected the one I wanted I had no troubles at all.

Just to add my experiences about XP Pro and joysticks...

All well on this point.

I have two sticks, USB both, a three years old Logitech WingMan Attack2 and a new Thrustmaster - all cool there, it's from the cheap line, 'cause my new Pentium 4 beast has sucked dry my not outstanding finances Laughing Laughing Laughing
