I picked 76 because we've never really learned about it in school, so I am ignorant to modern warfare, I know that it happened in the 20th century and I know that it involved the Brits and the Argentines. To me, 82 seems too recent, but like I said, I am ignorant of such things. Laughing

I guessed that 1982 was the year of the modern brit/argentinian confrontation, but this could be alluding to some obscure battle back in the stone age of modern warfare Laughing

I instinctly chose 1982, since british's Royal Navy in Falklands war used their sea harriers as their pimary fleet defenders. Wasn't that an obivous, british's (tea drinkers... can't resist that kind of jokes.. haha) sea harriers were not in serve at early 1970s until early 1980s while being armed with only sindwinders against mirage IIIs or 2000s. Correct me if I am wrong on this.

No, you're correct on the Sea Harrier ...

The Sea Harriers and HMS Invincible, commissioned on July 11 1980...

Of course, this doesnt necessarily mean that you are correct on the poll...

I never did say the two were related... Twisted Evil

Eh, I was guessing 1982, but then something told me....
So after searching google, I voted for 1914.
Eh, did you knew that the Falklands were originally settled by my
Acadian ancestors? I had just vaguely heard about that, but when I
saw you poll, CAG, I started searching the web for more infos about that.
Here's a condensed history of that (first) settlement:

Ok I think its time to let everyone in on the answer to this poll...

Nearly everyone fell for the ruse and went after the 1982 Falklands War date...

However the Falklands War was not the "Battle of the Falklands"! Mr. Green

When will you guys ever learn how truly tricky I can be... Laughing

The correct answer is... 1914! Very Happy

Battle of the Falkands, 8 December 1914

The British battle-cruiser HMS Invincible, Battle of the Falklands.

So far only FlatulentFox and I have voted correctly! Very Happy

Thats a half a point for that one I think.

I knew CAG can't be taken at face value in the Poll forum...
