I have to set up an e-mail mailing list, you know how they do those with cool graphics, tables, and nice text. How on Earth do you do that? What programming language do you have to use?

Like not that complicated but the basic idea, an e-mail news letter with graphics and background colors, and nice text.

How big is the list? If you need to do a mass mailing for a large list you will need the proper software to accomplish this.

You will have to have a database software package that supports mass emailings...

You may have these existing capabilites with GISOL, have you asked them yet? They could most likely create such a database for you...

If worst comes to worst, you can create a html page with graphics on your site and then email it to those on your list...

However, you should know, that most spam filters will block these types of emails...

This is why I abandoned the Newsletter for the VNFAWING.com site...

No it's not big. I just need to know how to do that in an e-mail. I tried incorporating HTML but only the coding went in, not the design. Does anyone know?

Ok, so you got the page, though it was a bit tattered due to it being a php constructed page instead of an html table...

The solution for your need is...

Create the webpage you want to send on your website with full URL addresses on all images...

Then...

While viewing the page with your IE Browser...

Select FILE

Select SEND

Select PAGE BY EMAIL...

Then simply fill in your email address in the send to box (Your outlook or outlook express emails end window will pop open)

And then paste in everyone's email address from your email list to the BCC (Blind Send) window so those people on the list cant see everyone elses email address...

Hit SEND, and you have sent everyone the email page...

Additionally... dont use a general background image, as you can see from the replied message a general background image will stay in the replies. If you must use a background image, only use it within the table not in the body statement..

Also make the tables a set size (the accepted size is 800 x 600), not a table width %, or you can get gaps between the images if people are running high resolution on thier desktops...

I hope this helped!

Exactly all of that helped. No I am doing a white background to solve that repeating thing. I was going to do 800 x 600 as well. Whilst I do sites in 1024 x 768, e-mail is different so I am sticking with 800 x 600 for that. I am going to do table pixels not % because let's face it, % differs for every page. Whenever I use % on my site, it is already within a table with a set pixel size. Like I'll do an 80-20 thing or something, you know.

Thanks!

If I may interject for a moment,

Think about the 56K'ers when you put together HTML e-mail with images.

Its not really an impact on 56Kers...

If you design the email right it will not take to much time to d/l images designed for use in html emails. The images are small and repetative so they only have to be downloaded once...

Besides, connecting to ones popmail, even with a 56K connection, isnt to dramatic unless you have almsot no RAM...

That used to be 2 rows but I trimmed it down. I run at 1280 x 960 resolution now. Damn why does everyone have a problem with my quick tasks. I tell you what, you spend 8 minutes searching through the program list and I'll spent 8 seconds.
