This is the final version for the new F/A-18Ds...

I based this off the improved F/A-18C shapes and skins and modified the canopy and added wingtip launch rails (that will also apprear on the C, E, & F versions as well)...

I still have some minor skin layout work to do, and I have to make a CAG version of this bird as well as USMC versions...

Overall though I like the new look for this bird and it fills a hole we had in FAF Korea with no flyable D versions with adquate shapes and skins...

NOW that look MUCH, MUCH BETTER than orginial F/A-18C/D. Each time i watched F/A-18 in tv back there in 1990s, flying Hornets in FA never felt like flying actual hornet.

Now with new shape, i can finally feel like flying actual Hornet in FA, so I would say, bloody exellent job!

Shocked Cool

Thanks Eagle! I am really trying to make these new birds as close to the real thing as I can with the limited number of polygons I am forced to work with... Very Happy

BTW I forgot to mention that I also removed the nose art, tail art, and roundel polygons and embedded the insignia and squadron tailart in the skin. I think this is vastly superior to the cartoonish look of default FA...

Yay!

In no uncertain terms, the default insignia had overstayed their welcome.

Yep its out of date, and this new (and much better solution in my opinion) of removing the insignia polygons from the new shapes, means that I dont have to worry about altering any default tail or nose art or roundels...

Of course, this means that all FAF aircraft will always have a single insignia, but since FAF has always been a theater based add on to FA, it makes since, as each theater will have the appropiate aircraft and weapons to match the appropiate airforces represented, so if you want to fly a different airforce, you simply load the proper theater to match it...

Jackal,

I have also improved the shape and skins on the Eurofighter Typhoon and added Italian nationality to FAF Korea as well (with both F-16s and Typhoons represented)!

So you should be able to have alot of fun with those!

See this string for further screenshots of full length flap shape edits and finalizing the wingtip rails and seperating them from the flaps and wings...
