wow, the 109 and the Zero got a lot of airtime for the whole war, but the Spit held the line against all those German bombers/strikers for the BoB. Gotta muse on this one for a while. _________________ FAF/FA-2 FM Wizard

I voted Spitfire. P-47 might have had more GROUND kills but ait to air I'm gonna guess Spit. _________________ FAF/FA-2 FM Wizard

The ME-109 (BF-109?) was used throughout WW2, so I'm going to go with that. The P-51 was only used in the later years once Allied command realized that the P-47 just wasn't going to cut it. I don't know much about the FW-190...

Sorry CAG I voted for the P-51, since it had more overall kills then any other aircraft in WWII. It is the only aircraft from that list that served in large numbers in both combat theaters for the USAAF. |

FW-190 was perhaps the best plane of the war, but came in late. _________________ FAF/FA-2 FM Wizard

I disagree. The P-51 came into the war alot later then the FW-190, which entered combat in 1941. The P-51 had far more kills then the FW-190 could ever hope to have. It also had the range to escort the bombers all the way into Germany and then defeat the FW-190 on its own home turf...
Mustang all the way!

P-38 has the ace with the most single kills for the USAAF. But not the highest kills in the war, since it served in such low numbers in Europe.

The answer is...
The P-51 destroyed more enemy aircraft in the air then any other WWII aircraft in combat...
The Spit killed a little over half that much.
The Me-109 2/3s as much as did the P-47.
The FW 109 and the Zero below half as much.
