I picked the Mi-24 Hind, because they were produced for use throughout the world in vast numbers! |

I voted Huey. They are in use in so many nations and just think of the numbers used in Vietnam.
However I've got the feeling that this answer is too straightforward to be correct. _________________

Well your vote makes alot of sense, but were enough Hueys built to call it all time produced helo?
Kaps vote is also logical, but did the Soviets really produce that many Mi-8/17s to out strip Huey production?
Also the Chinook is still in production, 40 years after it entered service...
Lots of food for thought on this poll!

I vote Huey. They are older than dirt and have been around since Noah shipped out on the ARK

As much as I want to say the UH-1 Huey, something draws me to the Mi-8/17 because every allie of the Soviet Union had about 600 of them plus the 60,000 or so in the Soviet Union. The Huey has been everywhere, sure, but as far as I know not as much as the Hip, which also has 116 variants. |

I Googled this last night, there are at leaste 3 frames claiming "most produced" one of which isnt even on the list! _________________ FAF/FA-2 FM Wizard

I said Hip, since quite a bit of Soviet warring paraphernalia can be found just about anywhere on earth (even in the US? ) And the hip is also used for civilian purposes, I know that Aeroflot bought a bunch of those, don't know how many though. The Huey was my second guess primarily because of Vietnam, but also because it serves as a fantastic utility helicopter (hence the designation UH).

Yeah there are alot of claims out htere on the net...
The data I used for this one comes from Janes. It lists one specific helo.
The missing helo from the list was due to not being able to have more then 6 choices for the poll...
I am impressed though, everyone is approaching this on a very logical and informed level!
Am I on the right forum?

I voted for the huey because they were kind of the symbol of vietnam, you would see clouds of em in the skies performing their missions. _________________
