Well cag, after seeing how you run your polls I have chosen the most unexpected of the aircraft, the A-4!

CAG

Ditto JP! Smile I vote for the A4 for the same reason and it is a Navy aircraft.

Pappy

You two COULD be right, as it would fit the pattern of previous polls...

HOWEVER I may have already determined that I was becoming predictable and reversed the course and instead went away from such a path and instead tiwsted the poll in a much different way... Cool

I thought about this one before voting. It seems to me that the MIG 29s would be kept around baghdad for air defense. The MIG 25s would be used for highspeed attacks against true threat aircraft such as Iranian F 14s so they would not be over kuwait. So I chose the Mirage F1 because Iraq had some very successful pilots in the F1s.

F-15 Eagle, because I built a model airplane kit for a Strike Eagle and I remember the literature on the bird mentioned that it was flown for sidewinder kills on migs while he was going after SCUD launchers.

Yes, but did the F-15 obtain the very 1ST kill? That is the question! Cool

The closest thing we have to an ace in the modern era is something like three ATA kills, so the odds aren't too bad Laughing

I dont see how that correlates... The Iraqis killed many Iranian aircraft in their 10 year long war. So their pilots did have alot of experience when they invaded kuwait and I never said the kill was by a US pilot...

I voted for the F-15C because it is the only US aircraft in the list.

Yes, but I'm playing the numbers here:
-I don't think Iraqis killed too many US aircraft-
-I don't think Iraqis killed many if any kuwaiti jets in the air
-Factor in the relatively low number of ATA kills overall and one of the three F-15 ATA kills stands a pretty good chance to be the first!

Fuzzy logic? Maybe. Like you said, we'll have to wait and see. Smile
